| Meet Jonas Perkins, portrait sculptor. This fine artist loved sculpting even as a child. He used to watch his mother work with various materials while growing up in Chicago and was fascinated by the results.
Jonas studied sculpture at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Institute Allende Art Academy of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. He moved to Texas in 1972 to live his "lifetime fascination with the early West". Although he uses many materials for his sculptures including wood, concrete, and marble, his passion is creating images and likenesses in bronze. He loves to create bronze portraits which reflect the essence of his subjects' character and spirit. His sculptures range in size from the hand built home that he lives in nestled deep within the Texas hill country to pieces only inches in height.
